VBVR-Pro: 네이티브 시각 추론을 위한 확장 가능하고 검증 가능한 스위트

Native visual reasoning treats visual generation as the medium of reasoning itself: visual states (i.e. images and videos) are not merely inputs to be understood or outputs to be rendered, but first-class substrates for problem solving beyond language. Yet progress remains bottlenecked by the lack of scalable training tasks, reliable feedback, and controlled comparisons across generative substrates. In this work, we introduce VBVR-Pro, a closed-loop testbed that makes native visual reasoning through generation trainable, verifiable, optimizable, and experimentally controllable. 1) Task scaling. VBVR-Pro turns visual reasoning into a controlled task space of 300 procedurally generated tasks. Models trained on VBVR-Pro show strong transfer beyond the proposed suite across seven external visual reasoning benchmarks such as RISE-Video, MME-CoF-Pro, and BabyVision. 2) Verifiable rewards. VBVR-Pro provides verifiable reward scorers for task-grounded evaluation. Through a systematic study of

ScienceBuddy: 상호작용형 과학 에이전트를 위한 재귀적 자기개선

We introduce and release ScienceBuddy, an interactive scientific research workspace that brings continually improving scientific agents into researchers' everyday workflows. ScienceBuddy supports researchers in carrying out scientific tasks while transforming their requests, feedback, and execution evidence into tasks and evaluation rubrics for continual learning. At its core is recursive-in-recursive self-improvement, a paradigm that couples harness evolution with model reinforcement learning: the inner recursion improves the harness with the model fixed, while the outer recursion trains the model under the improved harness. Harness evolution shapes training experience, and model learning creates new opportunities for harness adaptation. We present case studies of researcher interaction, harness refinement, and model learning, with the benchmark cases spanning four scientific task families. By releasing ScienceBuddy as a research product, we make this paradigm available to the scienti

Large Discovery Models: 실증 기반 모델 중심 오픈엔디드 탐색

Scientific discovery often involves optimising expensive-to-evaluate objectives over vast, structured, and open-ended hypothesis spaces, such as molecules, protein sequences, and computer programs. Generative models such as large language models (LLMs) provide expressive priors over such spaces, but their likelihoods and self-assessments are unreliable proxies for the objectives and calibrated epistemic uncertainty, especially for novel candidates outside the observed data distribution. We introduce the Large Discovery Model (LDM), an empirically grounded recurrent architecture that couples a generative model with a Bayesian non-parametric reward surrogate model. The generative model proposes and refines candidate designs, while the surrogate predicts their performance and quantifies uncertainty, yielding an uncertainty-aware value that guides candidate generation, refinement, and selection. The discovery memory and the surrogate model are continually updated as each new experimental o

포스트트레이닝에서 Tax 정밀도 끌어올리기

An emerging hypothesis about reinforcement learning (RL) post-training of large language models (LLMs) is that it merely sharpens existing behaviors of a base model, improving single-shot accuracy at the cost of solution coverage. Although this trade-off has been observed in math and coding tasks, it need not extend to agentic tasks, where multi-turn tool use and interaction may require capabilities newly acquired during post-training. Our surprising finding is that pre-trained LLMs, equipped with a light inference harness, can serve as capable agents. Despite far lower accuracy (pass@1), they often surpass their post-trained counterparts in solution coverage (pass@K) given a sufficient test-time budget. We further analyze the underlying mechanism and show that post-training pushes tasks toward two extremes, always solved or never solved, and thereby improves sampling efficiency and consistency at the cost of solution coverage. To measure this cost, we propose Sharpening Tax, a diagnos

PPO의 Critic 학습 재고: 가치 평탄화의 이해와 완화

In reinforcement learning for large language models, Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) commonly uses a critic to estimate state values and reduce the variance of policy updates. However, we uncover a systematic failure mode in PPO critics, which we call Value Flattening: state values, estimated from multiple Monte Carlo continuations, change sharply across intermediate states while critic predictions remain comparatively flat. We further observe this phenomenon in a controlled FrozenLake environment and find that it becomes more pronounced as the state space grows. Our theoretical and empirical analyses relate Value Flattening to an implicit variance penalty in the critic loss and redundant updates from temporally correlated states with similar gradients. Motivated by these findings, we introduce SParse Proximal Policy Optimization (SP^3O), which applies the value loss to only a few well-separated states in each response to mitigate both effects. Experiments on Qwen3-Base show that SP

Computer-use agents increasingly interact with browsers, terminals, file systems, and external services, introducing safety risks that emerge through runtime behavior rather than generated content alone. Existing guard models target static prompts and responses and are poorly suited to agent execution; existing executable safety platforms produce evaluation verdicts rather than the normalized supervision a guard model needs to learn across heterogeneous agent frameworks. We introduce HazardAuditor, an execution-grounded framework that closes both gaps. Its infrastructure runs heterogeneous agents (Claude Code, Codex, Hermes, and OpenClaw) in controlled environments and normalizes their interactions into a canonical event representation for cross-framework supervision. We further observe that token-level post-training objectives create a structural mismatch for generative guards, causing longer rationales to dominate gradient updates. WHALE: 하네스와 가중치 공동 최적화를 위한 간단한 레시피

Agent performance depends jointly on the model parameters and the executable harness code that manages context and control flow. Optimizing either component in isolation can leave the system bottlenecked by its frozen counterpart: weight updates can change which harness is effective, while harness updates can change which model capabilities are exposed. Existing joint-adaptation methods optimize weights and textual prompts but leave the broader harness fixed. We propose Weight-Harness Alternating LEarning (WHALE), a simple recipe that alternates two phases: updating the model under the current harness, then searching for a better harness under the updated model. We instantiate these two phases with online rejection-sampling fine-tuning and Meta-Harness, respectively. When to switch is a key design choice: to separate real improvements from noise without over-optimizing against a changing counterpart, WHALE uses either fixed phase durations or an adaptive patience rule over training sig

In software ecosystems, many features and bug fixes require coordinated changes across multiple repositories. We introduce WideSWE to evaluate coding agents on such cross-repository tasks. Mining and reviewing changes across 103 software ecosystems yields 120 real-world tasks, balanced between 60 bug fixes and 60 features. We derive prompts from related issues and pull requests. We systematically review and adapt hidden tests to support diverse correct implementations while preserving required behavior and regression checks. SyncWorld: 비주얼 캘리브레이션으로 월드 모델을 제로샷 시뮬레이터로

World models are increasingly used as policy-in-the-loop imagination environments, where reliable rollouts require fine-grained controllability with respect to low-level robot actions. A key obstacle to scaling such models in robotics is that actions are not a universal language in pixel space: changes in visual environment, camera view, robot placement, or embodiment alter how the same numerical action manifests visually, leading to conflicting supervision under mixed training and brittle generalization at deployment. We introduce SyncWorld, an action-conditioned world model that serves as a zero-shot simulator across unseen environments without any additional training. SyncWorld leverages a visual calibration episode---paired frames and actions that showcase all the controllable degrees of freedom---to specify the setup-specific Action--Visual Mapping in context. AREX-2: 장기 반성형 과제로 자기 개선 에이전트 고도화

We present AREX-2, an effort to advance the self-improving capability of LLM agents, which we define as the ability to iteratively refine a solution at test time. This ability rests on two complementary capabilities: reflection, which produces a solution better than the current one, and long-horizon execution, which keeps the iteration effective over many rounds. We hypothesize that both capabilities are domain-agnostic, and can therefore be learned in scenarios that are well suited for supervision. Accordingly, we synthesize long-horizon improvement trajectories from machine learning and algorithmic programming tasks, two domains that offer verifiable feedback and reward sustained iteration. Trained on this data, our agent, built on Qwen3.8-27B, achieves strong results on MLE-bench Lite (81.8) and Frontier-CS (70.7), transfers to deep research with 84.0 on BrowseComp, 52.6 on HLE, 92.2 on GAIA, and 93.8 on DeepSearchQA, and keeps improving as its budget of rounds grows. Audio-Visual Intelligence in Large Foundation Models

Audio-Visual Intelligence (AVI) has emerged as a central frontier in artificial intelligence, bridging auditory and visual modalities to enable machines that can perceive, generate, and interact in the multimodal real world. In the era of large foundation models, joint modeling of audio and vision has become increasingly crucial, i.e., not only for understanding but also for controllable generation and reasoning across dynamic, temporally grounded signals. Recent advances, such as Meta MovieGen and Google Veo-3, highlight the growing industrial and academic focus on unified audio-vision architectures that learn from massive multimodal data. However, despite rapid progress, the literature remains fragmented, spanning diverse tasks, inconsistent taxonomies, and heterogeneous evaluation practices that impede systematic comparison and knowledge integration. This survey provides the first comprehensive review of AVI through the lens of large foundation models. We establish a unified taxonom

X2SAM: Any Segmentation in Images and Videos

Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) have demonstrated strong image-level visual understanding and reasoning, yet their pixel-level perception across both images and videos remains limited. Foundation segmentation models such as the SAM series produce high-quality masks, but they rely on low-level visual prompts and cannot natively interpret complex conversational instructions. Existing segmentation MLLMs narrow this gap, but are usually specialized for either images or videos and rarely support both textual and visual prompts in one interface. We introduce X2SAM, a unified segmentation MLLM that extends any-segmentation capabilities from images to videos. Given conversational instructions and visual prompts, X2SAM couples an LLM with a Mask Memory module that stores guided vision features for temporally consistent video mask generation. The same formulation supports generic, open-vocabulary, referring, reasoning, grounded conversation generation, interactive, and visual grounded s

ReImagine: Rethinking Controllable High-Quality Human Video Generation via Image-First Synthesis

Human video generation remains challenging due to the difficulty of jointly modeling human appearance, motion, and camera viewpoint under limited multi-view data. Existing methods often address these factors separately, resulting in limited controllability or reduced visual quality. We revisit this problem from an image-first perspective, where high-quality human appearance is learned via image generation and used as a prior for video synthesis, decoupling appearance modeling from temporal consistency. We propose a pose- and viewpoint-controllable pipeline that combines a pretrained image backbone with SMPL-X-based motion guidance, together with a training-free temporal refinement stage based on a pretrained video diffusion model. Our method produces high-quality, temporally consistent videos under diverse poses and viewpoints. We also release a canonical human dataset and an auxiliary model for compositional human image synthesis. Code and data are publicly available at https://github

Chat2Workflow: A Benchmark for Generating Executable Visual Workflows with Natural Language

At present, executable visual workflows have emerged as a mainstream paradigm in real-world industrial deployments, offering strong reliability and controllability. However, in current practice, such workflows are almost entirely constructed through manual engineering: developers must carefully design workflows, write prompts for each step, and repeatedly revise the logic as requirements evolve-making development costly, time-consuming, and error-prone. To study whether large language models can automate this multi-round interaction process, we introduce Chat2Workflow, a benchmark for generating executable visual workflows directly from natural language, and propose a robust agentic framework to mitigate recurrent execution errors. Chat2Workflow is built from a large collection of real-world business workflows, with each instance designed so that the generated workflow can be transformed and directly deployed to practical workflow platforms such as Dify and Coze. APT, Vision-Language-Action 정책의 지시 일반화 성능 높이는 Action Expert Pretraining

Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models that couple pretrained Vision-Language Models (VLMs) with continuous action experts have achieved strong manipulation performance, yet generalization to out-of-distribution (OOD) language instructions remains poor. A known challenge is the structural imbalance in VLA data, where language is far less diverse than visual and action content, making policies prone to visual shortcuts. While discrete-action methods mitigate this through vision-language co-training, continuous action experts lack such protection: they start from random initialization and learn entirely from imbalanced data, producing noisy gradients that corrupt the VLM and fail to exploit its language capability. We address this from a Bayesian perspective, factorizing the policy into a language-agnostic Vision-Action (VA) prior and a language-conditioned VLA likelihood, and propose APT, a two-stage training method emphasizing Action expert PreTraining. In Stage 1, the action expert is pr

ToolCUA: Towards Optimal GUI-Tool Path Orchestration for Computer Use Agents

Computer Use Agents (CUAs) can act through both atomic GUI actions, such as click and type, and high-level tool calls, such as API-based file operations, but this hybrid action space often leaves them uncertain about when to continue with GUI actions or switch to tools, leading to suboptimal execution paths. This difficulty stems from the scarcity of high-quality interleaved GUI-Tool trajectories, the cost and brittleness of collecting real tool trajectories, and the lack of trajectory-level supervision for GUI-Tool path selection. In this paper, we propose ToolCUA, an end-to-end agent designed to learn optimal GUI-Tool path selection through a staged training paradigm. We first introduce an Interleaved GUI-Tool Trajectory Scaling Pipeline that repurposes abundant static GUI trajectories and synthesizes a grounded tool library, enabling diverse GUI-Tool trajectories without manual engineering or real tool-trajectory collection. Towards On-Policy Data Evolution for Visual-Native Multimodal Deep Search Agents

Multimodal deep search requires an agent to solve open-world problems by chaining search, tool use, and visual reasoning over evolving textual and visual context. Two bottlenecks limit current systems. First, existing tool-use harnesses treat images returned by search, browsing, or transformation as transient outputs, so intermediate visual evidence cannot be re-consumed by later tools. Second, training data is usually built by fixed curation recipes that cannot track the target agent's evolving capability. To address these challenges, we first introduce a visual-native agent harness centered on an image bank reference protocol, which registers every tool-returned image as an addressable reference and makes intermediate visual evidence reusable by later tools. On top of this harness, On-policy Data Evolution (ODE) runs a closed-loop data generator that refines itself across rounds from rollouts of the policy being trained. This per-round refinement makes each round's data target what t

BERT-as-a-Judge: A Robust Alternative to Lexical Methods for Efficient Reference-Based LLM Evaluation

Accurate evaluation is central to the large language model (LLM) ecosystem, guiding model selection and downstream adoption across diverse use cases. In practice, however, evaluating generative outputs typically relies on rigid lexical methods to extract and assess answers, which can conflate a model's true problem-solving ability with its compliance with predefined formatting guidelines. While recent LLM-as-a-Judge approaches mitigate this issue by assessing semantic correctness rather than strict structural conformity, they also introduce substantial computational overhead, making evaluation costly. In this work, we first systematically investigate the limitations of lexical evaluation through a large-scale empirical study spanning 36 models and 15 downstream tasks, demonstrating that such methods correlate poorly with human judgments. To address this limitation, we introduce BERT-as-a-Judge, an encoder-driven approach for assessing answer correctness in reference-based generative se

Object counting remains fragmented across domain-specific datasets and task formulations, despite rapid progress in generalist vision models. Existing counting models are often tailored to scenarios such as crowds, vehicles, cells, crops, or remote-sensing objects, and thus struggle to generalize across categories, visual domains, object scales, and density distributions. In this paper, we study text-guided object counting across domains, where a model takes an image and a natural-language query as input and returns an instance-grounded set of target points whose cardinality gives the count. This formulation unifies category-conditioned counting with interpretable spatial localization. To support this setting, we construct CLOC, a Cross-domain Large-scale Object Counting dataset that reorganizes diverse public data sources into a unified benchmark. 정밀한 embodied 상호작용을 위한 멀티 에이전트 1인칭 월드 모델

Egocentric world models predict first-person observations conditioned on an agent's actions, but most focus on a single agent. Real embodied settings often involve multiple agents that act and interact within a shared environment. Existing multi-agent world models rely on coarse actions like locomotion, camera control, or discrete commands, leaving fine-grained embodied interactions underexplored. We formulate multi-agent egocentric world modeling as synchronized ego-stream generation for multiple agents interacting through fine-grained actions in a shared world. This requires cross-view action consistency, shared-environment consistency, and consistent propagation of interaction-induced state updates. We propose Multi-agent Egocentric World Model (ME-World), which jointly denoises multiple ego streams in a shared token sequence, conditions each stream on all agents' target-view poses, and grounds generation with shared environment memory. As short-string rendering improves, evaluation must test sustained performance across more demanding scenes. We introduce UltraText Bench, a bilingual benchmark for prompt-only generation of dense visual text. AsyncOPD: On-Policy Distillation은 얼마나 stale해도 괜찮을까

On-policy distillation (OPD) trains a student on its own rollouts guided by teacher feedback and is becoming increasingly important for large language model (LLM) post-training. Like reinforcement learning (RL), however, OPD faces an on-policy systems bottleneck, as rollouts can dominate training time for reasoning workloads. Asynchronous training pipelines can alleviate this bottleneck by decoupling rollout generation from learner updates, but doing so introduces stale-policy data. While prior work has studied stale data in asynchronous RL, its effects in OPD remain underexplored. We present the first systematic study of staleness in asynchronous OPD, focusing on a practical setting where teacher feedback is implemented through local KL losses and full-vocabulary teacher logits are too expensive to store or transfer, necessitating finite teacher-score caches. We first show that KL direction changes the stale-data problem: teacher-weighted forward KL is more robust to stale rollouts, w

Existing benchmarks similarly provide only partial user state and therefore fail to capture performance in such a broad, always-on setting. To address this gap, we introduce Claw-Anything, a benchmark that expands agent context along three dimensions: long-horizon activity histories, interdependent backend services, and integrated GUI and CLI interaction across multiple devices. To instantiate this setting, we simulate months of user activity through multi-round event injection, producing complex world states and realistic noise, including irrelevant events and conflicting signals. Agents must reason over rich contextual environments while remaining robust to such noise. This expanded scope also enables the ev

Controllable image generation methods, such as ControlNet, have demonstrated a remarkable capacity to introduce visual conditions(e.g., depth maps) to guide image generation. However, these methods often struggle with complex multi-instance scenes, frequently leading to attribute confusion among instances. While recent approaches attempt to mitigate this via manual instance labeling, such requirements are labor-intensive. In this paper, we propose InstanceControl, a novel multi-instance controllable generation method that eliminates the need for instance labeling. We identify the primary bottleneck in existing methods as the inability to accurately associate instance descriptions with their corresponding regions within visual conditions. To address this, we leverage the Vision-Language Model (VLM) to establish instance-level correspondences between text prompts and visual conditions. Specifically, the VLM automatically parses instance descriptions from the text prompts and simultaneous

We introduce PhiZero, a physical world model built around physical language, a compact discrete representation of world-state transitions. Motivated by humans' ability to abstract predictive structure from visual experience and organize it in natural language for explicit reasoning, we learn physical language from in-the-wild videos through self-supervision and use it to explicitly reason about how the physical world evolves. Accordingly, PhiZero adopts a reason-then-render paradigm: it first infers future world evolution as a physical-language sequence and then renders the inferred transitions into videos. Extensive experiments across generation and understanding benchmarks validate the ability of PhiZero to model physically coherent world evolution.
