Less from More: 촘촘한 참조로 희소한 비디오 추론 강화
Video-language models commonly assume that more temporal observations lead to more reliable reasoning. We question this assumption and argue that the key challenge is not merely processing more video frames efficiently, but learning to reason reliably under limited temporal evidence. We propose SAVER, a dense-to-sparse post-training framework that uses dense video views as training-time references for sparse-frame inference. During reinforcement post-training, paired dense and sparse views are optimized with grounding rewards and a reliability-gated reference reward, encouraging sparse view predictions to preserve task-relevant temporal evidence. Notably, SAVER is trained only on 1,250 randomly sampled temporal grounding examples, without using any video question answering annotations. Across three temporal grounding benchmarks and six video question-answering benchmarks, SAVER consistently improves performance across frame budgets. In particular, SAVER can match or surpass dense-frame

SanSi: System 1.5 사고를 위한 루프형 타입드 의사결정 모델
Typed decision models answer a declared question without generating text: a decision head returns a probability for each of the declared options in a single forward pass. A single pass is fast, intuitive System 1 thinking. We study what lies between one pass and generated reasoning: looping, in which the same layers are recursively applied several times before one typed readout. Each loop lets the model revise its hidden state before it commits to an answer, without generating a token; we call this System 1.5 thinking. We propose SanSi, which turns a pre-trained looped language model into a typed decision model. The option probabilities are read after every loop, and every loop is trained with a proper scoring rule, so that one model serves every budget from one loop to eight in a single run. On 10,027 test decisions from 59 sources, SanSi reaches 72.0% accuracy: 13.5 points above a non-looped model of the same shape trained with the same recipe, 5.3 points above a newer non-looped mod

Agentic BBO 다시 보기: 블랙박스 최적화용 LLM 에이전트 벤치마크
Black-box optimization (BBO) arises in many scientific and engineering problems where objective evaluations are expensive and limited. Recent large language model (LLM) agents offer a new way to approach BBO by combining task semantics, computation, optimization tools, and feedback-driven decision making, showing great potential due to the integration with mathematically rigorous tools. However, existing agentic BBO studies use different task domains and system configurations, making their results difficult to compare and the effects of individual design choices hard to isolate. We therefore introduce AgenticBBO-Bench, a cross-domain benchmark for agentic BBO spanning synthetic functions, hyperparameter optimization, database tuning, chip design, and molecular design under a unified finite-budget evaluation protocol. In our experiments, agentic BBO achieves higher family-averaged scores than direct LLM-based methods in all five domains and outperforms the best numerical optimizers in f

WorkRover: 재귀적 환경 진화로 장기 지평 협업 에이전트 훈련 확장
Scaling interactive environments is important for training long-horizon agents through reinforcement learning. These environments often require further testing and refinement after initial generation, and correcting defects in a task may also require updating its work context and verifier. However, existing construction pipelines offer limited support for such iterative refinement while keeping these components aligned. We introduce WorkRover, a framework for training long-horizon cowork agents through recursive environment evolution. Its harness-driven synthesis enables construction agents to jointly build and validate semantically aligned work contexts, executable tasks, and evidence-grounded verifiers, adapting their actions to workspace state and execution feedback rather than following a fixed construction workflow. To support environment evolution, we introduce Factorial Compatibility Replay (FCR), which uses rollout feedback to evaluate combinations of component revisions throug

정확하지만 겸손하지 않다: 지식 충돌 상황에서 LLM 에이전트의 인식론적 겸손 평가
When retrieved evidence contradicts an agent's prior beliefs, does it revise its answer, acknowledge uncertainty, or persist with an incorrect conclusion? Existing evaluations of agentic systems focus primarily on task success, offering limited insight into how agents handle such conflicts. We propose to evaluate agents on epistemic humility (EH): the agent's willingness to recognize, act on, and communicate uncertainty during task execution. We operationalize EH through three trajectory-level behavioral dimensions: Identify, Solve, and Escalate (ISE). Through knowledge conflict, situations where the backbone language model's parametric knowledge contradicts the evidence it encounters, or where two contextual sources disagree, we evaluate two conflict settings: (1) controlled conflict and (2) naturally occurring conflict during multi-step agentic execution, each paired with matched no-conflict controls. Evaluating four agents, we find that higher task accuracy does not necessarily corr

Opera: 장기 과제 코딩 에이전트를 위한 언어 비평가 프레임워크
Long-horizon coding agents need timely corrections, yet feedback can be ineffective or even harmful when it misjudges ongoing work or fails to address the underlying problem. Existing critics focus on evaluating trajectories and generating feedback, but rarely track what happens after feedback is delivered. We present Opera, a verbal critic framework that treats each correction as a persistent note, followed until the diagnosed problem is resolved. Opera decides when to review through periodic and event-driven triggers, diagnoses issues with typed operators, audits feedback against visible evidence before delivery, and tracks the agent's subsequent actions to distinguish mere compliance from actual resolution. As a test-time critic, Opera improves the resolve rate of non-critic agents by up to 12.4, 15.0, and 8.9 percentage points on Terminal-Bench 2.1, a SWE-Bench Pro subset, and DeepSWE v1.1, respectively, across four policy models, and achieves the highest mean resolve rate among co

Large Language Models (LLMs) have been used for novel discovery of algorithms, theorems, drugs, and other tasks through the use of harnesses that prompt an LLM to iteratively optimize an objective. In this work, we study the relationship between the population of previous iterates and eventual discovery success. We generalize past work on harness design to develop a suite of 12 harnesses called 'Modular' and characterize their performance across 5 diverse discovery tasks, finding that discovery success is brittle and sensitive to harness design. We uncover mode collapse, characterized by a dramatic drop in the diversity of iterates, as a common failure mode. We find that popular state-of-the-art harnesses and diversity-inducing harness interventions, which aim to prolong this collapse, yield inconsistent gains. Our results instead uncover that the performance of early discoveries is predictive of eventual success. We therefore propose a universally applicable intervention that performs

비주얼 도구 사용의 환상: 이미지로 사고하기에 대한 인과 감사
The "thinking-with-images" paradigm equips multimodal LLMs with active visual operations such as crop-and-zoom. However, models using these operations often achieve only marginal or negative gains over direct inference at substantially higher token cost. They may also repeatedly crop irrelevant regions and fail on questions that direct inference answers correctly. We ask whether the returned visual evidence causally affects the answer. To answer this question, we formulate visual tool-use as a causal graph that separates observation-mediated paths from action-induced shortcuts. We then audit it through interventions at the three levels: policy (comparing tool-use with direct inference), trajectory (corrupting all observations during rollout), and step (counterfactually replacing one individual observation under a fixed prefix). Our step-level estimand, Visual Evidence Gain, isolates the contribution of each returned observation. Across six representative models and five fine-grained pe

Trust in an AI system is often anchored by explanations of how it works, which one then uses to forecast its behavior on new inputs. For large reasoning models (LRMs), this conventional route is particularly difficult to follow: explanation methods for single token generations do not naturally generalize to long trajectories, and the trajectories themselves are often not faithful when read as natural language. We propose an alternative that bypasses the explanation step: treat behavior forecasting as a learnable task and train Behavior Forecasters that operates on a single reasoning trajectory to make the same forecasts one would typically seek from an explanation. The forecaster's training data is obtained by querying the LRM with no human annotation, and its inference is done in a single forward pass. We instantiate this approach on two tasks: how likely the LRM is to repeat its answer on re-runs, and how removing parts of the input changes its answer. We evaluate this approach on bo

Video games provide a scalable source of training data for video world models, offering diverse environments, complex interactions, and abundant in-the-wild gameplay videos. However, raw gameplay footage entangles the game world with screen-space interfaces, introducing game-specific biases and irrelevant dynamics that hinder world-model training. To address this problem, we introduce GameUI-Taxonomy and G2WEngine, a full-stack framework that formalizes gameplay UI grounding and removal. G2WEngine automatically extracts reusable UI assets from real gameplay videos and synthesizes temporally coherent UI overlays on clean footage. Using this engine, we construct Game2World, comprising 96K synthetic paired videos with precise reconstruction targets and 1,079 in-the-wild clips from 303 games for realistic evaluation. 개방형 생성 평가를 위한 2단계 메타 루브릭: 사실 완전성 벤치마크 GAMUT
Evaluating the factuality of long-form generations has focused predominantly on precision, measuring whether the claims a model makes are correct. The dominant decompose-search-verify pipeline catches incorrect claims well but says little about whether a response contains all the information it should. Measuring factual completeness, the missing half of factuality, is harder: it requires enumerating the full set of facts a complete answer should contain, and these facts rarely form a flat list. They often involve open-ended sets where coverage is what matters, ordered processes, and relationships among facts that a list of independent boolean checks fails to capture. We introduce a two-level meta-rubric framework for evaluating open-ended generation, and instantiate it as Gamut (Grounded Assessment of Multimodal Factuality), a benchmark for factual completeness in long-form generation. The framework rests on a two-level rubric representation: a structured meta-rubric captures the organ

SceneFrom3D: 객체 단위 제어와 뷰 스케줄링으로 구현한 기하 조건부 야외 3D 씬 생성
Geometry-conditioned 3D scene generation enables the creation of 3D environments from user-provided geometry, offering direct control over scene structure and object layout. To generate such 3D scenes, current methods commonly adopt a three-stage design that first defines a view schedule, then synthesizes multi-view observations along the scheduled views, and finally reconstructs a 3D representation from the generated images. However, defining the view schedule becomes a major bottleneck for outdoor scenes, where large, unstructured, and unbounded geometry makes it difficult to obtain views that provide sufficient coverage while supporting stable generation. To address this bottleneck, we present SceneFrom3D, a framework that automatically schedules views from outdoor input geometries. SceneFrom3D constructs a directed generation graph whose nodes represent anchor views and whose edges represent interpolation trajectories, defining which views to synthesize, which view pairs to interpo

Attention-based Multiple Instance Learning aggregators in medical imaging are prone to attention concentration, producing overconfident and unstable predictions. We introduce QG-MIL, a gated transformer aggregator that addresses this through four synergistic architectural components: RMSNorm-based pre-normalization, per-head QK normalization, fine-grained attention output gating, and SwiGLU-style feed-forward modules. Together, these design choices stabilize training and distribute attention more uniformly across instances without auxiliary losses, masking, or multi-stage regularization. We evaluate QG-MIL across six benchmarks spanning whole-slide pathology and cell-level hematology, covering two fundamentally different MIL scales. The best-performing QG-MIL variants outperform leading baselines on all six benchmarks, with an average improvement of +6.1 mean macro F1 points. SUFLECA: CAD-이미지 정렬을 위한 특징 학습 확장
CAD-to-image alignment aims to estimate an object's 9D pose (rotation, translation, and anisotropic scale) from a single RGB image, enabling applications in robotics and augmented reality. Recent zero-shot methods use visual foundation models to match image regions to CAD models, yet typically their correspondences are appearance-driven and degrade under occlusion or sim-to-real domain shift. To address these limitations, we introduce SUFLECA (Scaling Up Feature LEarning for CAD Alignment), a weakly-supervised framework for zero-shot CAD alignment with two key contributions. First, SUFLECA scales up geometry-grounded feature learning from pretrained visual representations through Normalized Object Coordinates (NOCs) supervision on 674K images spanning 12 real and synthetic datasets, learning compact geometry-aware features that generalize across domains. Second, we propose a geometrically consistent matching algorithm that establishes reliable one-to-one CAD-to-image correspondences. T

Two LLM rewriters transform six rhetorical dimensions in opposing directions, and five LLM reviewers evaluate the resulting manuscripts under standard and strict protocols. The architecture is fully specified, verified against pinned reference releases; claims are labeled theorem, conditional theorem, measurement, or conjecture. Unconditionally: PLGA contains SDPA exactly at G_{LM}=I; A_{LM} and A_P are strictly entrywise positive, with Perron-Frobenius structure on A_{LM}; the DAG regularizer has the NOTEARS walk-counting form and positivity obstructs exact acyclicity; and, under nonresonance (satisfied by standard rotary frequencies), a commutant criterion identifies which operators preserve relative-position dependence. We introduce an axiomatic evaluation framework for latent thought representations in LLMs, comprising metrics that are independent of downstream benchmark scores and reveal representational failures that benchmark accuracy masks. Existing evaluations conflate representation quality with model capacity. Therefore, failures cannot be attributed to the representation rather than to the model that processes it. We formalize four functional axioms (Causality, Minimality, Separability, and Stability) and define a quantitative measure for each, computed directly on the representation independently of downstream accuracy. We audit open-weight LLMs across 23 reasoning tasks (e.g., Spatial Reasoning, Factual QA). We find that no candidate satisfies all four axioms simultaneously, that the representations distinguish task type reliably but cannot distinguish between two questions within the same task, and that the representations encode little information beyond what is already present in the inp

Small language models are usually built like large ones and then squeezed onto a CPU afterwards. We did the opposite: we fixed the target first, one user, one token at a time, 4-bit weights, ordinary CPU, and chose the architecture to suit it. The result keeps full attention in only 6 of its 18 blocks. The other 12 use short convolutions whose memory is two timesteps wide no matter how long the conversation gets, so two thirds of the network never re-reads a growing cache.
Trained from scratch on 59.9B tokens, the model scores 47.31 on a five-task benchmark against a bar of 42.20 that was fixed before training began. It beats GPT-2 124M, Pythia-160M, OPT-125M and GPT-neo-125M, all trained on three to six times more data, and exceeds MobileLLM-125M's published score despite that model seeing a trillion tokens. We introduce Polar Latent Actions with Radial structure (PoLAR), which imposes a radial-direction structure on latent actions, encouraging radius to encode transition extent and direction to retain transition mode. PoLAR uses temporal offset between two observations as a weak proxy for transition extent, encouraging latent action from observation pairs separated by larger temporal gaps to occupy larger radii. We instantiate this structure in hyperbolic space, whose expanding volume with radius offers a natural fit for more diverse transition modes at larger extents. Across in-task and large-scale pretraining settings, PoLAR improves downstream policy performance in simulation and real-world robot experiments, outperforming latent action baselines a

Every chemical language model reading SMILES begins with a tokenizer, yet the field has inherited byte-pair encoding (BPE) from natural language with little scrutiny. In natural language, BPE's principal alternative, Unigram-LM, is known to build structurally different vocabularies. Whether that contrast survives in chemistry was open. We report a controlled comparison of BPE and Unigram-LM over a fixed 165-token chemistry base, at the small vocabulary sizes where token embeddings are learnable, across three corpus typologies (diverse, drug-like, natural-products) and both pre-tokenization boundary policies. The two do not converge. In all 22 matched conditions they build near-disjoint subword vocabularies: cross-algorithm Jaccard overlap on the learned pieces never exceeds 0.161, and at most 0.05 once weighted toward the high-frequency pieces a model updates most. However, these signals are often delayed, weakly tied to actual reasoning progress, or too noisy for dynamic, branch-level control. To address these limitations, we introduce ParaTempo, a training-free asynchronous parallel reasoning framework. ParaTempo is driven by temporal confidence, a branch-local measure of answer-space convergence. Each branch is periodically probed for a tentative answer probability distribution, and temporal confidence quantifies how sharply the recent intermediate probes concentrate on a dominant answer. However, because strong closed-source models entail high inference costs, current popular agent harnesses, such as Codex and OpenClaw, remain prohibitively expensive when deploying these skills to accomplish real-world tasks. The rapid capability enhancement of open-source models deployable on consumer-grade GPUs presents a compelling opportunity to drastically reduce these costs by leveraging skill-based behavioral constraints. The former is susceptible to jailbreaks while sacrificing capability for all users to mitigate the risks posed by a few, and the latter is fundamentally incompatible with open-weight release. In this paper, we propose Tiered Language Models (TLMs), where a single set of released weights supports multiple capability levels. In its default public configuration, a TLM behaves as a conventional LLM. Furthermore, we show that fixing these bugs is still not sufficient for agentic tasks, due to the LT's layer-reuse strategy (which effectively doubles peak attention memory) used to achieve parameter efficiency. We thus introduce a chunked-prefill strategy which alleviates the incurred memory-capacity penalty, extending allowable context width by 2.7 times on 32~GiB shared memory.
