It Takes Two to Match: 강화학습으로 생성형 리트리버를 함께 진화시키다

It Takes Two to Match: 강화학습으로 생성형 리트리버를 함께 진화시키다

Retrieval is the first stage of modern search and advertising systems, selecting a candidate set from a large item universe for downstream ranking and auction. Recent work increasingly leverages LLMs to improve retrieval through query expansion, data synthesis, and retrieval-feedback training. However, the generative component is typically used for query-side augmentation, while final matching is still delegated to a downstream retriever. We introduce CoGR, a retrieval framework that instead trains LLMs to directly construct retrieval representations on both query and item sides. Each generator produces a compact set of keywords, which are matched directly through an inverted index, preserving compatibility with existing keyword-based retrieval infrastructure. CoGR uses a two-stage training pipeline. Supervised fine-tuning first establishes an aligned keyword space, after which co-evolving reinforcement learning alternately optimizes the query- and item-side generators with GRPO agains

코딩 대회 금메달 성능을 위한 언어 모델 포스트 트레이닝

Competitive programming has become a key test of large language model reasoning, with international competitions such as IOI and ICPC representing its most challenging settings. We present an end-to-end specialization pipeline combining large-scale problem curation, synthetic reasoning traces, supervised fine-tuning (SFT), and reinforcement learning (RL). Using 22,000 curated problems, we train Nemotron-3-Nano-CC (30B-A3B) with SFT and RL and Nemotron-3-Ultra-CC (550B-A55B) with SFT alone. We further introduce GenCorrect, a feedback-driven test-time compute strategy that iteratively generates, evaluates, and refines diverse solutions. On IOI 2025, Nano-CC improves from 130 points to 291 after post-training and to 468 with GenCorrect, exceeding the gold threshold of 438.3 while Ultra-CC reaches 502. Guided by these results, we develop a competition-specific Ultra-CC system and evaluate it prospectively during IOI 2026. Under the same time, internet-access, and submission constraints as

ExecRetrieval: 코드 임베딩 검색의 기능적 정확성 격차 측정

Embedding-based code retrieval is a core component of coding agents and retrieval-augmented code generation, where retrieving correct code matters more than retrieving lexically similar code. Existing code-retrieval benchmarks do not plant controlled, execution-verified single-edit variants of each query's canonical implementation in the search pool, leaving the question of whether embeddings can functionally discriminate correct from near-clone-but-incorrect code unanswered in a retrieval setting. Resolving this requires a benchmark whose search pool itself contains the relevant counterfactuals -- execution-verified buggy variants near-identical to each canonical -- so that a retriever's rank ordering can be directly tested for functional discrimination rather than topical or identity overlap. We introduce ExecRetrieval, 939 Python tasks each paired with one execution-verified canonical implementation and up to four execution-verified buggy distractors, each generated by a mechanical

Debias-SparseGPT: 대규모 언어 모델을 위한 편향 인식 프루닝

Model compression techniques such as pruning and quantization facilitate the efficient deployment and acceleration of Large Language Models (LLMs). However, recent studies show that weight sparsification methods, such as SparseGPT, can amplify existing biases in models, with outputs varying significantly depending on persona cues in the prompt. In this paper, we introduce Debias-SparseGPT, a post-training pruning method incorporating representational debiasing using a second-order term defined over demographically contrasting inputs. We perform empirical validation of our method over a wide range of generative LLMs. Across models and sparsity regimes (25%, 50%, and structured 2:4 sparsity), Debias-SparseGPT consistently reduces pruning-induced bias compared to SparseGPT while preserving model perplexity and zero-shot accuracy. Under the most restrictive 2:4 structured sparsity pattern, which most aggressively degrades model quality, augmenting the calibration set with long-context, con

Kirin: 실제 영상 기반 동물 움직임 생성

Understanding animal motion is fundamental to modeling animal behavior and biomechanics, yet progress in this area lags far behind human motion research due to the scarcity of high-quality motion data. While human motion can be captured in controlled environments, it is impractical for most animal species, resulting in small, domain-limited datasets that restrict downstream applications such as animation. To address this challenge, we introduce Kirin, a framework that reconstructs motion from video, learns motion priors at scale, and generates realistic motion that can be directly applied to animated assets. Using large collections of in-the-wild animal videos, we reconstruct 3D motion sequences and pair them with captions to create AiM3D, the first large-scale dataset offering aligned video-text-motion tuples for quadruped animals. Building on this dataset, we develop a visual-guided motion generation model that conditions on both text and image to guide the generation of realistic mo

Portfolio risk assessment ordinarily relies on reliable estimates of cross-asset return covariances, which are difficult to obtain in short, high-dimensional panels. We show that firm-level distribution-valued characteristics can instead provide one-sided certificates of portfolio risk. Under maintained links from characteristics to systematic exposures and from exposures to returns, multi-firm Wasserstein-2 dispersion yields a sharp upper bound on systematic portfolio variance and a corresponding bound for standardized returns. A weighted pairwise relaxation produces an objective that is convex under a checkable condition and requires marginal volatility scales but no cross-asset return covariances. With zero firm-specific slack, the common-map scale changes the certified variance reduction but not the normalized allocation, which depends only on observed information geometry. Rubric-based reinforcement learning extends RL beyond tasks with exact answers or rule-based verifiers by scoring responses against instance-specific criteria. However, this makes reward computation expensive: training requires repeated rubric judging, often with proprietary APIs or local generative LLM judges with 7B parameters or more. We study whether smaller language models can serve as efficient and reliable rubric-based judges. To make this question measurable, we construct PointRubric and RaR-Science-Static, two pointwise rubric-based evaluation datasets with instance-specific criteria and itemwise satisfaction labels. We compare three ways of extracting criterion-level judgments from small models: Generative verdicts, Yes/No Logprob margins, and Probe judges. Across both datasets, the Qwen3-1.7B Probe judge achieves the strongest criterion-level agreement among these methods, outperforming Generative and Logprob judges. Used as a GRPO reward model, it trains a policy from 0.232

FoldingAgent: 시연 영상에서 파라메트릭 종이접기 절차 추론

We present FoldingAgent, an agentic framework for inferring explicit parametric folding programs directly from origami demonstration videos. Our framework leverages the reasoning power of a pre-trained Vision-Language Model (VLM) equipped with a suite of specialized tools that enable the agent to simulate geometric transitions, verify physical plausibility, retrieve and compare visual content, and evaluate its own predictions. To translate visual content into folding programs, we define a parametric space that consists of the paper's geometry and a set of parametric folding actions. Unlike models that predict static crease patterns, our agent operates sequentially and possesses the ability to re-plan its actions, effectively mitigating the compounding errors inherent in multi-step folding. Our approach takes a step toward closing the gap between human origami knowledge, which is primarily shared through unstructured visual demonstrations, and computational methods, which typically rely

Executable environments are critical for post-training agents on tasks that require tool use and multi-step interaction, but constructing executable tasks together with their environments remains difficult to scale. Skills provide reusable domain knowledge, operational procedures, and tool-use instructions, but a substantial gap remains between the information contained in a skill and a concrete, challenging task with a complete executable environment. To address this gap, we introduce Skill2Env, a capability-oriented framework that starts from a skill and uses agent capability demands to guide task and environment synthesis. Skill2Env represents these demands through reusable difficulty patterns and instantiates them into task blueprints that specify objectives, challenges, environment facts, information boundaries, and acceptance criteria. These blueprints guide the joint construction of task instructions, execution substrates, workspaces, and rubric-based evaluators around source sk

RenderRank: 압축된 시각 토큰으로 텍스트 재정렬 학습

Rendering document text as images allows vision-language models to encode documents as visual tokens, which can reduce input sequence length compared with text input. This reduction in input length is particularly useful for reranking, where each query involves scoring multiple candidate documents and token savings apply to each candidate evaluation. We introduce RenderRank, a reranker that learns query-dependent relevance scoring from compressed visual document representations instead of the text token sequences used by conventional text-based rerankers. Training first aligns relevance scores from visual inputs with those of a text-based teacher, then refines the relative scores of positive and negative documents for the same query. Across 11 datasets from BEIR, RenderRank uses 16.5-35.5% fewer input tokens while achieving an average NDCG@10 of 55.96, outperforming all evaluated text-based baselines below 4B parameters and some larger models. Real-time full-duplex speech models can listen while speaking, enabling natural interaction without rigid turn boundaries. Existing benchmarks evaluate turn-taking, interruption handling and multi-round dialogue, but largely centre on a designated user rather than an assistant participating in a shared conversation among several people. We introduce Duplex-MPE to evaluate when such an assistant should answer, remain silent or stop speaking. The benchmark contains 2,000 scenarios with three or four human speakers and one assistant, each paired across explicit and implicit addressing of the same request. Models receive continuous conversation audio without transcripts or supplied turn boundaries. Four scores measure fresh response initiation, answer accuracy, silence preservation and stopping when a human resolves a request. We evaluate five open-weight speech systems: MiniCPM-o 4.5, Moshi, FLM-Audio, Voila and Freeze-Omni. MiniCPM-o 4.5 leads on three scored capabilities, while frequent

파라미터는 그대로, 제품만 바꾼다: Transformer용 Associative Algebra Layer

Fast matrix multiplication algorithms keep the product fixed and search for a cheaper way to evaluate it. We instead ask whether a Transformer's learned projections can use a different, cheaper product altogether. Building on an associative-algebra construction that replaces ordinary matrix multiplication with a sparser interaction table over the same weight blocks, we construct a family with quadratic arithmetic in the matrix dimension when the physical block size remains fixed, and derive finite-shape constraints for GPU execution. The construction is provably optimal for its bilinear rank by the Alder--Strassen bound and can be realized as row-typed rectangular projections compatible with causal masking and KV-cached decoding. We provide an empirical test of this approach by training two approximately 110M-parameter decoder-only Transformer LMs from the same recipe and 12.3B-token budget, differing only in their feed-forward layer: one uses ordinary dense matrix multiplication and t

Most modern multimodal large language models (MLLMs) build on a pretrained visual encoder that provides a strong visual prior. Encoder-free MLLMs instead learn visual representations directly from raw pixels, offering a simple and unified architecture, but their scaling behavior has not been systematically characterized. To fill this gap, we compare scaling laws for encoder-free and encoder-based MLLMs and report three main findings: (1) Removing the visual encoder shifts the compute-optimal allocation for the multimodal objective toward larger models, while leaving that for text nearly unchanged. (2) The two architectures exhibit nearly overlapping loss--compute frontiers on the text objective, but diverge on the multimodal objective: encoder-free models underperform at small scales yet are predicted to catch up at around 10^{22} FLOPs, well within practical pretraining budgets. (3) Without a visual encoder, the language model learns to take over its role via vision-specific adaptatio

맥락에서 학습하는 법을 학습하기: 교란된 공개 문서 기반 합성 학습

Real-world tasks often require large language models (LLMs) to learn from complex task-specific context rather than pretrained parametric knowledge. This capability remains a weakness of LLMs, while human annotation for such task contexts is expensive and difficult to scale. Public high-quality documents are an abundant alternative, but much of the public web has already been consumed during pretraining: training on such documents naively would reward memorization rather than context learning. In this work, we attempt to make use of high-quality public documents with small perturbations and empirically find that LLMs can successfully generate context-dependent reasoning traces and answers, which are then used to train a student model. Specifically, we construct a synthesis pipeline that (i) rewrites source documents to reduce memorization risk, (ii) generates questions and rubrics that require reasoning over the document, (iii) answers the questions with the document as context, and (i

Diffusion Transformer에선 구조화된 잔차 연결이 중요하다

Diffusion Transformers (DiTs) have established themselves as a scalable backbone for high-fidelity image synthesis. However, unlike U-Net based diffusion models that rely on rigid, hand-crafted skip connections, DiTs predominantly use a uniform residual stream that integrates all preceding layers as a monolithic state. In this work, we rethink residual connections in diffusion transformers and propose to transform them from passive summation into an active retrieval mechanism optimized for image denoising. First, we conduct a systematic analysis of DiT's internal representation, revealing a latent preference for early-layer feature reuse and symmetric layer guidance. Motivated by this, we introduce a structured connectivity design that explicitly integrates local residual connections with long-range pathways. Instead of static skip connections or dense all-layer routing, our method enables each transformer block to selectively ``attend'' to critical earlier representations, dynamically

EmbodiedMemory-Bench, 장기 과제를 위한 embodied memory 벤치마크

Long-horizon embodied interaction requires agents to retain and continually update information about the environment as they observe, act, and encounter change. Yet current agents struggle to maintain such memory reliably. Our analysis traces this limitation to four key deficiencies: weak fine-grained visual memory, unreliable dynamic world-state tracking, failing to record world state revealed by interaction outcomes, and limited generalization from prior experience. However, existing benchmarks do not directly assess these memory capabilities during long-horizon embodied interaction. To address this gap, we introduce EmbodiedMemory-Bench (EMem-Bench), comprising 2,554 interactive episodes across four task families. EMem-Bench requires agents to build and update memory from interaction history, then use it to complete a later task by acting in the environment. We further present Embodied-Memorizer (EMem), an external memory system that organizes embodied experience into spatial, event

에이전트 궤적을 확장 가능한 터미널 환경으로 바꾸는 Terminal-Universe

As terminal-based code agents become prevalent, agent trajectories have accumulated at scale, while realistic, executable environments remain scarce. However, environments are what agent post-training actually requires: each can be re-queried into many verifiable tasks and provides execution feedback, whereas a trajectory is a single frozen demonstration. Rather than generating environments from scratch, we observe that the tool-execution history in existing trajectories exposes the structure and contents of the environments in which they ran, making it possible to reconstruct those environments from the trajectories themselves. Thus, we introduce Terminal-Universe, a framework which turns each trajectory into a reusable environment and explores it for synthesizing new tasks and continued interactions. Specifically, Terminal-Universe replays the file operations recorded in a trajectory to restore each file before the agent modified it, yielding a partial workspace; a completion agent t

언제 재사용하지 말아야 하는가: 자율 LLM 사후학습의 조건부 경험 전이

Large language models offer broad capabilities, but adapting them to evolving domains, tools, and requirements often entails repeated post-training. Autonomous systems automate parts of this process by proposing updates, training candidates, and using evaluation feedback to select subsequent proposals. As evidence accumulates, a central problem emerges: which past update evidence remains actionable after subsequent training has changed the parent model? An update's effect depends on its parent, data, and training stage. Treating past success as context-free permission can waste compute. If the resulting child is promoted, it can also degrade the subsequent training trajectory. We formulate this problem as conditional experience transfer and introduce Boundary-Calibrated Intervention Transfer (BCIT), a method that authorizes experience reuse before weight-changing training. BCIT binds an observed effect to its source context, checks applicability conditions, vetoes candidates with named

RoboFoundry: 자기학습형 체화 에이전트를 위한 System-as-Policy 진화

A foundation model should not act in isolation as an embodied agent. Yet, existing methods often optimize individual components of the agent stack, such as memory, context, skills, or action interfaces, rather than treating the supporting system itself as a unified policy. Moreover, interaction alone does not yield self-improvement unless execution experience is converted into persistent, validated system changes. We therefore propose RoboFoundry, the first embodied agentic framework that formulates this process as Self-Evolving System-as-Policy. RoboFoundry diagnoses capability gaps in decision-making and memory management, converts execution traces into validated task-specific system updates, and promotes recurring improvements to the general system. Evolution operates over two complementary surfaces: a context system that manages active internal context and persistent file-system memory, and a hierarchical skill system that organizes atomic skills, reusable compositions, and failure

Editable Visual Design

Editable Visual Design

While diffusion base models such as GPT-Image-2 and Nano-Banana exhibit remarkable visual expressiveness, their end-to-end generation inherently yields flattened bitmaps with error-prone text, precluding layer-wise post-editing. Conversely, code-based visual generation via Coding Agents provides precise layout control and decoupled layers, yet remains constrained by a lack of global aesthetic intuition and the difficulty of coding complex visual assets. To address this, we propose Editable Visual Design, a new paradigm driven by a Coding Agent. We designate the VLM as the ``creative brain'' for requirement comprehension, task planning, and aesthetic judgment, while utilizing the image generation model as an on-demand ``visual world simulator'' to synthesize standalone visual assets. Operating under an ``imagine first, then act'' closed-loop workflow, the agent generates isolated assets, writes native HTML/CSS, and iteratively refines the design against visual rendering feedback. 대형 언어 모델 온폴리시 증류 재고 II: 단 하나의 학습 예제

On-policy distillation (OPD) combines student-generated rollouts with dense token-level supervision from a teacher. Existing work has mainly studied its algorithmic behavior, leaving the role of training data unclear. We examine this role at the data-minimal limit by training on a single query. One-shot OPD keeps improving for hundreds of steps and recovers most of full-data OPD's gain across task domains and model families. We explain this result through the states visited during training and the rate at which the student aligns with the teacher. We measure state coverage, the fraction of the states full-data OPD visits that a query set's rollouts reach. A single query already reaches \(71.5\%\), most of it within the first 100 steps. Adding semantically distinct queries raises coverage and validation accuracy together, until 16 queries reach \(98.9\%\) and match full-data training. Yet alignment slows at a similar pace whether OPD trains on one query or the whole dataset, and even a

Compressed context is usually carried as human-readable text or as rendered images that must be decoded, even when its consumer is a language model. We introduce LatentPress, which writes conversational histories and long documents into a third representation: continuous memory tokens that a frozen decoder reads directly through its input-embedding interface, with no text reconstruction at inference. A small reader-matched writer compresses 4-16times while training only an adapter (4.2M-26.2M parameters, sim!0.1% of the decoder). On LongBench-QA, in-domain writers match or exceed raw-context reading at 4-8times compression, while 16times trails raw. 빠진 시간 축 연결고리: 스크립트 기반 오디오-비디오 생성을 위한 시간적 컨텍스트 라우팅

Joint audio-video generation models have made substantial progress in visual quality and audio-visual synchronization. However, they still provide limited control over when shot transitions occur and dialogue is spoken. This limitation constrains their application in script-driven content creation, where timing errors can undermine narrative coherence and the viewing experience. Current joint generators align video and audio representations on a shared temporal axis, yet the precise timing of shots and dialogue specified in a structured prompt is encoded only in the prompt's text representation and remains unaligned with the temporal coordinates of either modality. Consequently, video and audio may remain synchronized with each other while both fail to follow the script timeline. This mismatch motivates us to extend temporal alignment beyond video and audio to include the structured script. We therefore introduce Temporal Context Routing (TCR), which maps the script timing onto the sha

Streaming video understanding requires multimodal large language models (MLLMs) to process continuous visual inputs and respond to user queries under strict causality and bounded memory. Existing approaches typically compress historical observations into an external memory bank and retrieve query-relevant evidence as additional visual context. Though effective, this store-and-retrieve paradigm keeps historical evidence as external visual context, preventing it from being internalized into a compact, evolving latent memory that can continuously guide streaming reasoning. To bridge this gap, we introduce LatentStream, a progressive latent working memory framework that shifts streaming memory from store-and-retrieve to retrieve-and-internalize. Specifically, LatentStream comprises three coordinated components. QwenGyre, 초장기 지평 에이전트 학습을 위한 탄력적 강화학습 프레임워크

Large language model (LLM) agents increasingly undertake extreme-long (xlong) horizon tasks, where a single execution can span hours, hundreds of model--environment interactions, and nearly 1M tokens per rollout. Applying online reinforcement learning (RL) to such executions poses two fundamental challenges: (1) severe execution variance and prolonged rollout delays cause massive GPU idling; and (2) complex non-linear branching generates massive trajectory redundancy, crippling training efficiency. To address these, we presents QwenGyre, an end-to-end framework for xlong-horizon online RL. QwenGyre elastically reallocates GPUs between rollout and training without interrupting live executions, while its trajectory processor reconstructs branching histories, scores partial progress, and deduplicates redundant paths to bound training costs. A central goal in robotics is to enable manipulation across changing tasks and environments. Vision-language-action (VLA) models provide broad manipulation capabilities but can struggle when execution requires diagnosing failures and adapting behavior. Strong agents can discover effective interventions through interaction with these policies. We propose Recursive Harness Distillation to accumulate this experience as reusable guidance across agents. A strong agent distills its experience into a playbook for a light agent, then recursively refines the playbook using the light agent's execution feedback. The resulting playbook enables agents to reuse accumulated intervention knowledge in new task instances without updating model parameters. In real-world manipulation, the harness improves success from 37.3% to 64.0%. On SimplerEnv Bridge, the light agent with the playbook achieves 66.7% success, compared with 41.7% for the GR00T-only baseline, and outperforms the strong agent without a pl

Neural image watermarks can be forged by extracting watermark-bearing residuals from released images and transferring them to unrelated content. While prior work has demonstrated this vulnerability, what makes these residuals transferable remains poorly understood. We formalize this vulnerability with residual transferability (RT), a metric that quantifies how well watermark evidence remains decodable after transfer across unrelated images. Through comparative analyses and controlled interventions, we find that common training-side variations do not account for the large RT differences across watermarking systems; instead, architectural design plays a central role. By contrasting high- and low-RT systems and validating their architectural differences through controlled interventions, we identify two mechanisms that strengthen the dependence of watermark evidence on the cover image, thereby suppressing the residual transferability. These findings provide concrete design guidance for dev

Scaling interactive and verifiable environments is critical for training terminal agents. As frontier models become more capable, environments synthesized from scratch become less challenging and thus provide limited learning signals. Recent co-evolution methods iteratively synthesize environments near the model's learnable frontier based on weaknesses exposed during rollouts. However, their dependence on on-policy rollouts limits generalization and the continuous provision of learning signals as the model becomes stronger. In this paper, we propose environment evolution, which incrementally increases environment difficulty off-policy and schedules the evolved environments generation by generation during training to provide continuous learning signals. We derive three evolution directions that influence environment difficulty from the multi-turn learning objective and then implement evolution along these directions through a loop-engineered multi-agent harness. We study the dynamics of Stochastic Gradient Descent (SGD), which is known to steer deep neural networks toward invariant sets that correspond to simpler subnetworks. How this steering unfolds over time remains poorly understood. We answer this by modeling the stochastic gradient flow (SGF) as a percolation process, in which architectural symmetries force subnetworks to merge in discrete simultaneous blocks rather than one at a time. These structural transitions register as variance spikes in a macroscopic order parameter, echoing physical phase transitions. We further show this trapping mechanism and its associated scaling cascade extend to Adam and AdamW under an explicit heavy-tailed noise model.
