Gated DeltaNet은 왜 4비트 양자화에서도 버티는가: 하이브리드 27B LLM의 순환부를 위한 NVFP4 W4A4
Hybrid LLMs pair softmax attention with linear-attention layers such as Gated DeltaNet (GDN), whose recurrent state summarizes the context in fixed size. Early community 4-bit quantizations of Qwen3.8-27B (48 GDN layers, 16 attention layers) left the GDN block in 8- or 16-bit precision -- especially its decay and write-strength gates -- on the intuition that errors in a recurrence accumulate over long contexts. We test that intuition by building Minima: NVFP4 W4A4 on all 496 linear layers, GDN included. Across perplexity at 4K/32K, MMLU-Pro, GSM8K, AIME'25, GPQA-Diamond, LiveCodeBench, and RULER retrieval to 64K, Minima matches BF16 within seed noise (5-task average -0.52) while being the smallest (17.5 GiB) and fastest-prefill (+14-19%) recipe we compare, and its 32K perplexity gap shrinks with position. A four-part mechanism study explains why: (i) NVFP4's 16-element block scaling localizes the residual stream's extreme outliers, equalizing activation error across layer roles; (ii) t

PACE: 사용자 요청 속 숨은 충돌을 드러내기 위한 접근
Personalized assistants should not only comply with user requests but also assess whether those requests are appropriate given the user's current circumstances. However, prior work has primarily focused on accurately executing requests, overlooking the need for assistants to account for context and engage in conflict-based refusal. Furthermore, while existing work on conflict or safety detection relies on explicitly provided factors, real-world scenarios often involve implicit factors that must be retrieved from a knowledge base (KB). To this end, we introduce Personalized Assistants for Conflict Evaluation (PACE), a dataset for evaluating whether models can identify latent constraints, expressed as egocentric knowledge or events, that render seemingly reasonable user requests inappropriate. PACE pairs user requests grounded in well-defined personas with egocentric KB facts, requiring models to integrate contextual evidence to determine whether a request is conflicting. This implicit r

Puffin-World: 네이티브 3D 월드 상태로 통합 멀티모달 모델 확장
We propose Puffin-World, a unified multimodal architecture that integrates physical understanding, spatial simulation, and 3D world generation and reconstruction without relying on external offline modules. To reliably construct and interact with 3D worlds, our framework jointly models three native world states: physics (gravity field and latitude), geometry (depth), and appearance (image), together with a unified Omni-Camera representation that supports diverse tasks and flexible motions. Beyond modeling these states, we introduce a strategy for propagating physical dynamics across future frames. By grounding absolute camera properties in the real world, Puffin-World enables physically consistent and visually stable world generation. We further couple appearance and geometry within a single generative process, jointly synthesizing each future view and reconstructing its underlying geometry. This unified paradigm enables interleaved closed-loop applications requiring synergy across mul

WorldReward: 카메라 조건부 월드 모델을 위한 보상 모델링
Camera-conditioned world models generate interactive videos in which commanded actions should induce the expected scene changes while appearance, geometry, and temporal dynamics remain coherent. Existing rewards assess these requirements separately: geometry-based rewards estimate trajectory execution but cannot judge the visual quality of the executed motion, whereas image-based rewards measure frame quality without capturing action execution or temporal dynamics. We posit that a vision-language model (VLM) offers a shared reasoning space for relating actions to their visual outcomes. However, judging a complete long video against its full action sequence creates a lengthy, noisy context in which short-lived local action evidence can be missed or diluted. We present WorldReward, a VLM-based pairwise preference reward model that unifies action-consistency and visual-quality evaluation for camera-conditioned world models. WorldReward decomposes paired videos into action-aligned chunks,

Scal3R: 확장 가능한 온라인 3D 재구성을 위한 효율적 다중 상대 포즈 쿼리 학습
Online 3D reconstruction models perform poorly on long videos. This happens because regressing poses relative to a fixed first-frame anchor forces extrapolation far beyond the training distribution. Small drifts accumulate and amplify into significant geometric collapse. However, we observe that per-frame depth remains stable throughout this failure. The backbone's local geometry remains intact; only the global pose head breaks down. Motivated by this decoupling, we introduce Scal3R. This approach reformulates online reconstruction as multi-reference relative pose querying. We use lightweight learnable tokens, which make up about ~1% of the parameters, and inject them into a completely frozen backbone via asymmetric attention. This setup queries poses relative to multiple past keyframes. An online pose-graph optimization system with loop closure suppresses long-range drift. Scal3R reaches convergence in 8 hours on a single GPU. It reduces the average ATE by over 60% on KITTI compared t

VeriPhy: 월드 모델 평가·개선을 위한 에이전트형 물리 추론
Visual fluency in generated video does not imply physical reliability, and a scalar quality score alone is incapable of indicating the obligation a clip violates or the moment it fails. We present VeriPhy, an auditable physical-verification system in which a text-only planner compiles the prompt into typed physical obligations and a statically validated execution plan before any frame is observed. During execution, observations gate and scope only declared calls to frozen low-level experts (e.g., segmentation and tracking, counting, eleven typed physical measurements over the resulting tracks, depth, OCR, and audio-event detection). Each action returns a provenance-carrying evidence record whose payload, when usable, is either a typed measurement or an explicitly tagged learned state. Typed resolvers and fixed composition map usable records to a three-valued state (supported, contradicted, or unknown, surfaced as plausible, implausible, or abstain) with full provenance, so that every v

CORE: 리랭커 증류로 MLLM 임베딩의 조합적 추론 강화
MLLM-based embedding models remain limited in compositional retrieval, often failing to distinguish scenes containing the same concepts but different attribute-object bindings. Yet the same backbone can resolve such distinctions when used as a cross-attentive reranker, motivating us to distill its compositional judgments into the embedding model. We propose CORE, which synthesizes candidate lists spanning five compositional matching levels and introduces a Rank-KL objective that trains the embedding model to reproduce the reranker's fine-grained ranking. We further introduce a graded evaluation protocol and compare contrastive learning, pairwise CoSENT, and listwise Rank-KL under the same data and tuning budget. Our comparison shows that both CoSENT and Rank-KL use the multi-level supervision more effectively than contrastive learning, with Rank-KL achieving the strongest overall performance. Principia: 비디오 모델을 위한 관계적 물리 테스트
Evaluating physical reasoning in video models is difficult because absolute motion measurements depend on frame rate, object scale, and camera calibration, all of which are often ambiguous or unavailable in generated video. We propose a different approach. When two objects in the same scene obey the same physical law, their motions must satisfy predictable relationships, and these relationships hold independent of calibration. We introduce Principia, a benchmark that evaluates Newtonian physics through relational consistency between paired objects. Principia spans eight phenomena - gravity, restitution, friction, rotational inertia, projectile motion, momentum, pendulum, and mass-spring oscillation - across translational, rotational, collisional, and oscillatory dynamics, using real-world scenes recorded under controlled protocols. We also introduce a calibration-independent consistency score that quantifies physical violation directly in image space. Across thousands of generations fr

FlowTool: Flow Matching으로 이미지 보정 도구 파라미터 제어
Tool-based image editing (image retouching) is commonly formulated with autoregressive multimodal large language models (MLLMs) that sequentially generate reasoning, tool selections, and parameter values. In this work, we present a novel approach to tool-based image editing by framing the task as a flow matching problem. We introduce FlowTool, a framework that directly models the distribution of high-quality tool parameters conditioned on the input image and user instruction using conditional rectified flow. FlowTool combines a vision-language model backbone for multimodal understanding with a Diffusion Transformer parameter generator that transforms Gaussian noise into an editing plan. We train FlowTool with a two-stage supervised flow-matching curriculum, followed by reward-based post-training. Across MMArt-Bench, FlowTool-Eval, ArtEdit-Bench, and MIT-Adobe5K, FlowTool achieves significantly stronger reference-based performance than specialized MLLM editing agents and proprietary MLL

In-Flight KV Cache와 Clean Anchors로 더 빠른 자기회귀 비디오 확산
Few-step autoregressive video diffusion generates a long video by splitting the video into temporal chunks and generating chunk-by-chunk, each through a short sequence of denoising stages. To memorize chunks that are already generated, previous methods reconstruct a clean or less-noisy key--value (KV) cache by additional forwards to build the cache without advancing an output latent. However, every denoising forward itself already computes the in-flight KV of the current chunk. We introduce FlashForward, which directly reuses this cache to avoid the heavy cache-update-only model forwards. After the current chunk completes one denoising stage, its stage-specific cache is already available for the next chunk. Assigning one GPU to each stage therefore lets different chunks occupy different stages concurrently. This early availability has a quality cost: the resulting stage-matched history is noisy, causing appearance and motion drift among chunks. To complement it, FlashForward produces s

MILO: 조율된 멀티 에이전트 진화로 자동화한 Harness 발견
Modern agentic systems combine an AI model with a harness that controls execution and environmental interactions. Harness design strongly affects long-horizon performance, yet its combinatorial search space demands substantial human effort that must be repeated as models change. Existing automated methods explore this space narrowly, optimizing only components such as prompts or skills or becoming trapped by fixed, exploitative search strategies. We introduce MILO (Meta-evolutionary Island Orchestration), a framework that co-evolves agent harnesses and the strategy used to discover them. MILO combines: (i) hierarchical lineage memory over island-based trees, using rejected mutations as negative evidence; (ii) per-island mutator agents that rewrite complete harnesses using global search history and parent-specific feedback; and (iii) an orchestrator that adapts search through lineage grafting and speciation, mutator reassignment and curriculum revision. 자동 음성 유사도 평가, EER에서 임베딩 기하로 전환해야 하는 이유
Speaker verification (SV) models are commonly assumed to better capture nuances among speaker characteristics as verification accuracy improves, leading to their widespread use as automated proxies for human voice similarity in speech generation tasks. However, by establishing a human perceptual alignment metric and conducting systematic analysis, we demonstrate that perceptual alignment is governed far more by how a model is trained (its learning objective) than by how well it performs (EER). Notably, standard margin-based classification losses (e.g., AAM-Softmax) yield substantially lower perceptual alignment than prototypical metric losses, while EER itself fails to track human judgment, directly challenging the community's implicit assumption. We trace this divergence to embedding geometry, where a model's effective dimensionality (d_{eff}) tracks perceptual alignment with a -0.95 rank correlation, revealing that the dimensional spread favored by classification losses fundamentally

We distinguish idea-driven search from solution-driven search and identify three core challenges: organizing evolving research ideas, selecting promising directions, and maintaining alignment between ideas and their implementations. To address these challenges, we introduce the Agentic Idea Manager (AIM), a fully autonomous framework for managing and exploring research directions in idea-driven automated research. Inspired by Bayesian optimization, AIM uses an Agentic Surrogate and an Agentic Acquisition mechanism to organize discovered ideas and guide their selection. A Solution Auditor maintains idea-solution integrity, while a Resource Planner adaptively allocates the remaining experimental budget across parallel search branches. In realistic education, a solution is often expressed not only in words but in a drawing--a circuit, a geometric construction, a function plot--and a teacher must grade the drawing as carefully as the text. Recent advances in unified multimodal models have enabled scientific image generation, yet verifying the correctness of these specialized visual outputs remains a critical bottleneck: errors often arise from intricate domain knowledge, structural reasoning, and multi-step instruction rather than surface-level artifacts. Existing verifiers mainly target natural images and compress judgement into scalar scores, leaving scientific coverage and explainable feedback for error correction underexplored. To bridge this gap, we make three main contributions. 반복형 Mixture of Experts의 스케일링 법칙
Looped transformers and Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) offer complementary routes to efficient scaling: recurrence increases computational depth at fixed parameters, while MoE sparsity expands total capacity at fixed active compute. Yet existing scaling laws model recurrence or sparsity in isolation. In this work, we introduce Loop Scaling Laws, the first scaling law to jointly model recurrence and sparsity alongside model size and data. At its core is a bounded, sparsity-conditional recurrence mapping that characterizes the effective-parameter gain from looping and how sparsity raises this gain. The laws predict the held-out loss of looped models more accurately than prior alternatives, and recover the standard dense and MoE scaling laws as special cases. Beyond prediction, the fitted laws provide a principled foundation for designing looped MoE models under compute and memory constraints. Downstream evaluations further demonstrate the complementary benefits of the two axes: sparsity delive

Nereus: LLM 포스트 트레이닝을 위한 적응형 병렬화
Reinforcement learning (RL) post-training for large language models (LLMs) coordinates multiple models across generation, inference, and training on GPU clusters. Several factors may change during a run, including resource availability, sequence length, memory pressure, and stage bottlenecks. As a consequence, an execution plan that was initially suitable can then become slow or even infeasible over time. However, adapting a job whose models share GPUs entails significant challenges: deciding whether a new plan is worth the transition cost, reusing the job's distributed state, and coordinating GPU transfers across models and stages.
Nereus targets these challenges as a cost-aware runtime that adapts RL post-training jobs into efficient execution plans. Its low-overhead controller selects a memory-feasible global plan and admits the transition using a cost model calibrated against the running job. To estimate and execute a transition, Nereus represents the distributed state of each re

RISE: 자기 외삽 정책 증류로 구현한 재귀적 성능 개선
On-policy distillation (OPD) provides dense, per-token supervision for language model post-training, but its effectiveness is bottlenecked by teacher quality: external teachers suffer from distribution mismatch, while self-distillation with privileged conditioning is limited by in-context learning capacity. We propose RISE (Recursive Improvement via Self-Extrapolating Policy Distillation), which constructs a synthetic teacher directly from the model's own RLVR training trajectory. By extrapolating the displacement between the current checkpoint and a trailing anchor---in parameter space or output logit space---RISE converts a sparse outcome-induced parameter update into a dense token-level target, without any external model or privileged conditioning. RISE combines RLVR and OPD in a complementary loop: outcome rewards ground the extrapolation toward correct reasoning, while the extrapolated teacher refines token-level decisions. Moreover, since the teacher is refreshed every iteration

Benchmarks for the side effects an agent causes on the way to a goal already exist, but HarvestBench is the first to put a price on avoiding the side effect and to name that side effect as a living creature. It is a farm simulation: LLM sub-agents drive a crew of two tractors through a cooperative corn harvest, with animals in the field. The environment is a reinforcement learning gridworld, every decision is made without memory, and the harm is never named in the goal. When an animal blocks a tractor's route the autopilot stops and asks the model whether to drive on, at no fuel cost, or swerve around it for a posted fuel price. Kills are compared against two controls: rocks, which damage the tractor and are hit under 1% of the time by every model, and hay bales, which are harmless and not alive. Models can also take crops from the neighbor's field instead of their own, a second test of what they treat as moral.

Dropout, 버리지 마라: 효율적인 LLM 학습·추론을 위한 레이어 희소성 최적화
Layer dropout (a.k.a. stochastic depth) has been shown to enable faster training, higher accuracy, and robustness to zero-shot layer pruning in both language and vision transformers. However, as models and datasets have scaled, dropout - particularly layer dropout - has largely disappeared from large language models (LLMs) pre-training recipes. While some prior work has reported that dropout can degrade accuracy, no comprehensive study has quantified, let alone mitigated, this effect. In this study, we show that layer dropout should be used in state-of-the-art LLM training, establishing best practices and scaling analysis for both training and post-training benefits. Concretely, with optimal layer distribution, time schedule, and optimizer hyperparameters, we observe that at the same training FLOPs layer dropout leads to lower loss. For a given number of training steps, LLMs can achieve lower or similar validation loss while saving upto 25% of training FLOPs. Moreover, layer dropout en

양자화가 메모리를 망가뜨릴 때: 저정밀 시간 추론의 순환 상태 write-back 문제
Quantization is widely used to reduce the computational and memory demands of neural-network inference. In recurrent networks, however, the quantized state is stored and returned at the next time step, so the rule used to store that state can alter subsequent computations. Here, we introduce recurrent-state write-back to denote this rule and isolate its effect in a compact GRU encoder--decoder for fluorescence lifetime imaging, a molecular imaging modality used in quantitative biological imaging. A central task is estimating two lifetime parameters, the short-lived component τ1 and the long-lived component τ2, from high-noise time-resolved fluorescence signals. Holding the trained model fixed, replacing continuous state propagation with deterministic 4-bit state storage increases estimation errors for τ1 and τ2 by approximately 70x and 300x, respectively. Failure occurs when repeated small updates remain below the write threshold, leaving the stored state nearly fixed while the network

2026 PNPL Competition, LibriBrain100 기반 단어 분류와 피험자 간 효율적 일반화
The ambition of the 2025 PNPL competition (Landau et al., 2025) was to launch a multi-year curriculum for non-invasive speech decoding. Designed to progress from foundational tasks toward the linguistic complexity required for a practical brain-computer interface (BCI), it set the stage with speech detection and phoneme classification tasks. Winning submissions reached F1-macro scores of 95.6% and 73.6% on the respective tasks (Elvers et al., 2026), highly significant advances. This success was built on the LibriBrain dataset (Özdogan et al., 2025), the largest within-subject MEG dataset recorded at the time with {sim}50 hours of data for one subject. However, while within-subject scale drives strong decoding performance, a practical BCI must generalise to new users from minutes of data, not hours.

Distill 전에 검증부터: 온폴리시 Distillation을 위한 프롬프트 단위 Teacher Gating
On-policy distillation (OPD) accelerates post-training by providing dense token-level supervision from a frozen teacher on the student's own rollouts. Vanilla OPD applies this supervision uniformly across prompts, without checking whether the teacher is reliable for each prompt. Because reverse KL is mode-seeking, a confidently wrong teacher can induce a strong yet misleading update. Distributional proxies, such as entropy or teacher-student likelihood agreement, measure uncertainty or agreement but do not directly verify outcome correctness. We introduce Teacher-Gated On-Policy Distillation (TGOPD), built on the principle that teacher reliability should be verified at the prompt level before dense supervision is admitted. TGOPD estimates reliability from a small set of verifier-scored teacher probes and routes each prompt exclusively to dense OPD when the reliability check passes or to verifier-grounded GRPO otherwise. 하나의 증상, 세 가지 레버: 온폴리시 Self-Distillation 비판적 리뷰
On-policy distillation trains a language model on its own generations while a teacher scores them token by token. It combines the dense supervision of imitation learning with the on-policy sampling of reinforcement learning. But it requires a second, larger model to act as teacher. On-Policy Self-Distillation (OPSD) removes that cost. The teacher is the model itself, conditioned on privileged information the student will not have at test time, such as a reference solution, a plan, or environment feedback. The teacher is no stronger than the student, only better informed. Early results were promising, with accuracy comparable to reinforcement learning at a fraction of the generated tokens. But the same asymmetry that produces the signal also biases it. One failure mode now dominates the field: collapse, the progressive narrowing of the set of reasoning paths the model can produce. Collapse is not specific to OPSD, though privileged information aggravates it. This review treats collapse

Procedural Graphs: LLM 에이전트를 위한 자기진화형 실행 구조
Large language models are increasingly deployed as agents that plan over long horizons and act through external tools. Most agents select actions through unconstrained generation over an accumulating history, leaving implicit the procedural knowledge of what to do, in what order, and under which conditions. As trajectories lengthen, agents can lose track of their objectives, invoke tools out of order, and repeat unproductive actions. We introduce the Procedural Graph: just as a knowledge graph organizes factual knowledge into (entity, relation, entity) triplets for what-is questions, a Procedural Graph organizes procedural knowledge into (procedure, relation, procedure) triplets for what-to-do questions. At each decision step, the framework localizes the agent's active node, and a guidance model translates the surrounding subgraph into step-level situational guidance that biases the solver's next action without dictating it. Speculative decoding accelerates rollout generation, which dominates the cost of reinforcement learning (RL) post-training. Online co-training can further increase the draft's accuracy, yielding greater speedups. However, scaling this approach to co-training on large models with long contexts poses two obstacles: (1) branch attention is unsupported by standard causal context-parallel (CP) implementations, and (2) target features span across pipeline-parallel (PP) stages. We address both with an end-to-end system for large-scale online draft co-training. For CP, we extend packed, load-balanced zigzag ring attention by merging rank-local branch attention with causal main-sequence attention. For PP, TapChannel transports intermediate target features across stages via a separate path, leaving the pipeline schedule unaffected. This gap between where information is readable and where it is used has been shown for attributes stated directly in the input. We ask whether it also holds for an attribute the model must infer gradually over a conversation, namely how expert its dialogue partner is. Using ExpertCollab, a corpus of multi-turn research-planning dialogues between model-played personas at four expertise levels, we find that partner expertise is most decodable in the early layers and falls to near chance before the midpoint of the network. Counterfactual patching shows that injecting the expertise difference at the layer of peak decodability barely changes a fixed late-layer readout, whereas the same difference injected past the midpoint propagates almost completely, a separation of more than an order of magnitude.
